Clear Creek Meats
Pasture Raised and Grass Finished Beef
in the Oklahoma Ozark Mountains
"A significant part of the pleasure of eating
is in one's accurate consciousness
of the lives and the world from which food comes."
Wendell Berry
Located in the Central Eastern Oklahoma Ozark mountains, we are surrounded by rugged beauty, a spectacular setting for raising happy and healthy cattle. When you purchase and consume our beef, not only are you buying food that is high quality, but you are supporting a community: the farmer, the butcher, the small family business selling the meat, who all have an integral care for the health of the land, the animal, and the feast that comes to your table. Clear Creek Meats strives to build community by providing a face-to-face relationship with our patrons and to connect them with the faces and places from which the meat comes.
Quality Beef from Local Farms
The Abbey Beef for sale at this time is from Clear Creek Abbey, a home to monks who run their own farm with gardens, milk cows, chickens, geese, ducks, sheep, and cattle. They are working to conserve the land and in so doing are making a prime environment that sustains nutrient-rich food.
The meat cattle are one-half South Pole which is a breed that suits its surroundings, being denser and more drought tolerant and perfect for grass grazing, and in keeping, these steers are grass-fed and grass-finished.
Ordering Online
We are currently out of stock on fresh beef but hope to have more available for Spring 2025. Please check back later or consider joining our newsletter to be among the first to know when we have more meat available. After the meat is processed, it will be available for pick-up at Mayes County Processing. A map of their location is available here.
What our patrons are saying:
The process of ordering, paying for, and picking up the meat was very easy. I have ordered meat from various farms and this was easier by far because I could select my choices and see what I was getting beforehand online. In addition, I was updated about when and where to pick it up so I wasn't informed at the last minute.
The meat itself has amazing flavor and cooks up beautifully. My husband especially loves that he can enjoy steak on feast days and other special days of the year. It is something we normally couldn't afford as often and yet it's top quality beef that is moist and juicy and tender. I love that my family is able to enjoy various cuts of meat that I know have been raised in a healthy and sustainable environment.
R. Harrison, Tulsa Oklahoma
"Our large family recently moved to Tulsa in a hurry from Washington state. Having left 3 freezers full of our home-raised and processed meat, we were in dire need of some bulk protein. With holidays around the corner too, I also desired to restore some semblance of normalcy to our kitchen for the festivities. Our diet, but also our family culture, was at stake here! Odd as it sounds, in order for Christmas to be Christmas, I needed mince meat pies and plum pudding, which requires not just lean beef, but the precious beef fat, or suet, from well-raised animals.
I ordered from Clear Creek Meats and the Klassen family went out of their way to ensure we received these extra items. I knew these were custom (even esoteric) requests, often impossible to fulfill in the labyrinthine small scale meat industry, but they didn't bat an eye to serve. Thankfully, our first Christmas in Oklahoma was thoroughly traditional with our beefy British treats. The beef share certainly helped us land in this new place and make it Home. Thank you, Clear Creek Meats, (and the monks!) for making our first celebrational season here a memorable one."
